Our tips
Long beaches at your fingerprints
On foot or by bike, you can explore the famous beaches of the Caribbean. One of the most beautiful ones, Playa Chiquita, is only 400 m from Casa Eva. Among the others that line the road to Puerto Viejo is the nearby Cocles beach with its clear lagoons.
Sweet exploration
A fascinating chocolate experience will take you to an indigenous village where you'll learn about the Bribri culture. A tasty part of the visit is an overview of the chocolate-making process, during which you can make your own delicious bar. Finish your tour with a swim in a nearby waterfall.
Cahuita National Park
The primary role of the marine reserve is to protect Costa Rica's largest coral reef, which provides shelter for many species of fish and, occasionally, loggerhead turtles. The mainland part of the park protects mangroves and coastal tropical rainforests with many animal species. In addition to walking along the beach, it is possible to take a boat cruise along the cliffs or spend time snorkelling.
Not a minute of boredom
Every week, there is a Saturday farmer's market in Puerto Viejo, where you can buy delicious cheeses, vegetables, chocolate, and pastries. Activities like snorkelling, kayaking, hiking, rafting, surfing lessons, dolphin, turtle, bird watching, and horseback riding in the jungle and on the beach can be arranged nearby.
